Dave Wright is VP, Fellow and Patent CTO at Cypress Semiconductor. He is responsible for IP business strategy, portfolio management and patent monetization, as well as management of the corporate patent process, focusing on business objectives and comprehensive product-line IP strategies. He has created, deployed and directed innovative business processes to create and protect strategic IP in both mature product lines and emerging technology areas.
Before assuming the IP leadership role in 2010, Mr Wright held a variety of management and technical leadership positions at Cypress spanning the microcontroller, USB, user interface and wireless businesses and the CTO Office. Mr Wright has contributed to technical standards including USB, Bluetooth and Zigbee and is a prolific inventor with over 125 US patents.
Before relocating to the United States in 1999 to work for Cypress, Mr Wright held a variety of technical and management positions across the consumer electronics and computing industries in the United Kingdom, including Marconi, Raymarie and Saitek.
Mr Wright earned a BSc in Electronic Engineering from Southampton University and an MSc in VLSI Design from Bournemouth University. He is a patent agent registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
