Jodi Avergun is an experienced former federal prosecutor whose practice focuses on representing corporations and individuals in criminal and regulatory matters involving, among other things, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, securities enforcement, health care, and general white collar matters. Jodi has successfully represented both companies and senior executives in internal investigations, matters before regulatory bodies including the SEC and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and in civil and criminal matters in federal court. She has also designed and implemented compliance programs for a variety of her clients.
Prior to joining the firm, Jodi was a senior official in the Department of Justice, where she served as chief of staff of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and in several leadership positions within the Criminal Division and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Douglas Small is a Managing Director in Capstone’s Litigation, Forensic Investigation and Dispute Resolution Services Group. He has over 25 years of experience in all aspects internal corporate fraud investigations, forensic accounting and auditing matters and adherence to United States law abroad to include the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Mr. Small has experience in investigating violations of the FCPA and other anti-corruption legislation and has assisted outside counsel in its investigation of illicit payments and benefits to government officials and closely related third parties. Additionally, Mr. Small spent 14 years as Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he conducted numerous complex white collar criminal investigations to include public corruption and bribery matters, corporate, health care and financial institution fraud, money laundering, wire fraud and mail fraud. During his career he has project managed and conducted investigations and compliance audits both domestically and internationally in Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Mr. Small is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Texas, a Certified Fraud Examiner and is certified in Financial Forensics by the American Association of Certified Public Accountants. Manny A. Alas has 29 years of professional experience and is a Partner in the New York Office. He leads the New York Forensic Services Practice group comprising of over 170 professional staff and is the Co-leader of the Global FCPA practice.and is the Co-Leader of the Firm’s FCPA practice.
He provides specialized advisory services to boards of directors, audit committees, senior company management, as well as chief financial officers, general counsel and compliance officers. His expertise includes international business risks, investigations, remediation, compliance systems and programs, controls implementation, dispute analysis, merger compliance due diligence and integration as well as training programs.
Manny currently serves on the Board of Advisors to the Molloy Business School. He has lectured as a guest accounting and auditing instructor at Villanova University, Columbia University, University of Virginia, Lehigh University, Notre Dame, St. John’s University and Georgetown University.
