Jonathan Klarfeld, who joined Ropes & Gray in August 2014, is a veteran antitrust enforcer who led many significant merger investigations and challenges during his 13 years at the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition in Washington, D.C. Jonathan brings to Ropes & Gray clients a broad range of experience and knowledge about how antitrust reviews of transactions proceed, how consents are reached and how matters are litigated. A staff attorney with the FTC from 2000 to 2008, Jonathan was named counsel to the director in 2008, where he oversaw several merger and non-merger divisions within the FTC. In 2009, Jonathan was appointed a Deputy Assistant Director in the Mergers I Division. In that role, he managed all aspects of the antitrust enforcement division in case selection, oversight and enforcement recommendation development. He also oversaw and participated in investigational hearings and depositions, negotiated consent agreements and litigated matters across a wide range of industries.

Stuart Chemtob is Senior Of Counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where his practice focuses on antitrust counseling and government conduct investigations. In addition to representing clients in criminal and non-criminal investigations before U.S. federal antitrust agencies, Stuart also combines his experience with U.S. and foreign antitrust laws to provide integrated advice on antitrust compliance in the United States and overseas, and advises on global corporate compliance programs, including with regard to conditional pricing and other distribution-related practices. His practice also involves issues related to the interface of antitrust, intellectual property, and standard setting. He previously served as Special Counsel for International Trade in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. In this role, he acted as the primary liaison to the antitrust enforcement agencies of the major Asian antitrust jurisdictions, led merger and civil non-merger investigations, represented the Department in the interagency trade policy review process and advised criminal and civil investigative staff on international enforcement issues.

He has experience in many different industries, including: airlines, food and beverages, chemicals, graphite electrodes, semiconductors, computer components, biometric identification, printers, medical devices, oil and gas pipelines, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, and automotive parts. His counseling work has included advising clients on pricing, distribution strategy and category management. During law school, Vincent clerked at the Federal Trade Commission where he assisted with antitrust investigations and litigation. Vincent was selected to the Washington DC Super Lawyers list, Rising Stars, Antitrust Litigation, in 2014.
