SEAN A. COMMONS is a partner in Sidley’s Los Angeles office and member of the commercial litigation and disputes practice. Sean has more than 15 years of experience litigating complex matters including class actions and qui tam claims. He has assisted clients faced with class actions, mass actions and coordinated proceedings brought under state and federal consumer protection, unfair business practices and usury statutes, including the UCL, CLRA, EFTA, FCRA, FDCPA, the “Holder Rule,” RICO and TCPA. Sean has successfully handled class actions and qui tam complaints in state and federal courts, including through appeal, on behalf of clients in the automotive, banking, consumer electronics, insurance, food supplement, food product, pharmaceutical, software and defense industries.
Mr. Bellacosa is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group at Phillips Lytle LLP, a law firm with offices located throughout New York State, Washington, D.C. and Canada. Prior to joining Phillips Lytle, Mr. Bellacosa spent twenty-five years in the Litigation Practice Group at Kirkland & Ellis LLP with over twenty-one of those years as a Partner. He concentrates his practice in the areas of class action defense, product liability, mass torts, ERISA, securities, and commercial disputes. He also has extensive experience with criminal and regulatory investigations. He has represented a diverse group of leading U.S. and international companies in complex, high-stakes disputes in federal and state courts and in arbitrations, including the defense of insurance, tobacco, cell phone, petroleum, chemical, automobile, and securities companies in class action cases across the country. He has complemented his private law practice with significant pro bono publico service, including serving by appointment to highly sensitive public Boards with wide-ranging duties and responsibilities by New York State Governors and Chief Judges.
Megan’s litigation practice is focused on defending consumer class actions, civil rights class actions, and other complex business litigation. Megan litigates and counsels her clients regarding diverse claims including unfair business practices, false advertising, fraud, California’s Consumers Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), California’s Automatic Renewal Law (ARL), contract disputes, regulatory matters, and disability access. Megan also has substantial experience litigating class claims regarding the use of the term “natural” on food product labeling. She has represented clients in a wide range of industries including food, restaurant, dairy, retail, technology, franchising, and financial.
