Steve is a partner in Ropes & Gray’s Bankruptcy and Business Restructuring practice group and works with lenders, bondholders, private equity funds and their portfolio companies to devise creative approaches to unlocking value in out-of-court and in-court restructurings. Steve has particular experience representing secured creditors in workouts and Chapter 11 cases and has assisted these clients in developing strategies to profitably resolve intercreditor disputes and to acquire distressed assets through receiverships, foreclosures and credit bids in section 363 sales. Steve is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, and his recognitions include listings in Massachusetts Super Lawyers – Rising Stars (2005-07, 2009, 2011-12), as well as The Best Lawyers in America (2013).

ROBERT J. MILLER Partner, Bryan Cave LLP. Leader of the firm’s bankruptcy, restructuring, and creditors’ rights practice group. Central Michigan University (B.S., 1982); University of Oklahoma (M.B.A., 1986; J.D., with highest honors, 1990). Mr. Miller’s practice concentrates on commercial workouts, Chapter 11 restructurings, and all aspects of commercial bankruptcy litigation. He regularly represents institutional creditors, debtors, and most of the other major players in insolvency matters. He is a frequent lecturer and author on a wide range of commercial insolvency topics. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Turnaround Management Association. Mr. Miller is a contributing editor to Norton Bankruptcy Law and Practice, and a number of other publications.

Dr. Buckberg provides expert testimony and litigation support in the areas of securities economics, finance, valuation, and regulation. Her testimony and litigation experience includes regulatory, criminal, and civil securities cases, both in the US and in Europe.

In securities litigation, Dr. Buckberg has led engagements involving hedge funds; subprime and structured finance securities, including CDOs and synthetic CDOs; derivatives; securities class actions; insider trading; disgorgement; foreign exchange; mutual fund market timing and fees; IPO and trade allocation; and broker-dealer disputes. Dr. Buckberg has also directed projects and testified in complex commercial litigation involving valuation, mergers and acquisitions, fraudulent conveyance, and bankruptcy.

In addition to expert testimony, Dr. Buckberg has made presentations on behalf of clients to federal and state securities regulators. In arbitration matters, she has appeared before FINRA, the NASD, and JAMS. She has also testified before the Court of First Instance in Madrid, Spain.

Patricia B. Tomasco’s practice consists of corporate reorganization and fiduciary litigation, where she focuses on workouts, reorganizations, distressed acquisitions, and debtor and creditor representation in Chapter 11 cases as well as litigation related to fiduciary roles in both corporate and securitization entities. Ms. Tomasco also has experience in telecommunications-related reorganizations and litigation.

Ms. Tomasco is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She served on the Exam Commission for the Texas Board of Legal Specialization from 2007 through 2011. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, State Bar of Texas – Bankruptcy Law Section, and Austin Bar Association – Bankruptcy Section, where she was Counsel and Secretary. She is also a member of the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit and the Austin Young Lawyers Association. Ms. Tomasco is also a former trustee of the Austin Lyric Opera, and she volunteers for Meals on Wheels and Caritas of Austin.

Ms. Tomasco has been named a “Super Lawyer” (2005-2012) and a “Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights Super Lawyer” (2009-2010, 2012) by Thomson Reuters. In 2005, she was also listed in the Austin Business Journal in “Best of Business Attorneys & Corporate Counsel, Bankruptcy Law.”
