Continuing Legal Education /CLE

Attorneys in most US states and territories are required to complete Continuing Legal Education (CLE) on an ongoing basis to help them stay on top of new legal developments.

Some state bars require attorneys to attend live events, while other states allow completion of CLE requirements through self-study. Compliance cycles are another area where states differ.

CLE Hours

There are no existing nationwide CLE-hour requirements.

State authorities create the requirements for lawyers in their jurisdiction. Thus, the rules vary from one state to another.
