Scott H. Christensen is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. He focuses on commercial, banking, and constitutional litigation, as well as representation of not-for-profit organizations. For more than 12 years, Scott has defended the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in litigation arising out of several failed banks involving their asset-backed securitization businesses, alleged tax liabilities, and deposit insurance limitations. He currently is representing the FDIC in several matters arising out of the closure of Washington Mutual Bank and IndyMac Bank involving their mortgage-backed securitizations. Scott also represents clients in matters involving securities litigation, internal investigations, international arbitration, and contract disputes. He is a member of the Appellate Practice Group and has represented clients before the Supreme Court of the United States, seven U.S. Courts of Appeals, and several state supreme courts.
