Whether you’re an experienced or newly admitted Pennsylvania attorney, here’s what you need to know about the PA CLE rules and how to get your Pennsylvania CLE Requirements fulfilled with a Knowledge Group CLE Bundle.

Pennsylvania CLE Requirements: All attorneys admitted to practice in Pennsylvania shall complete twelve (12) credit hours of continuing legal education including at least two (2) credit hours of ethics.

Compliance Deadline: Varies by compliance group.

Reporting Deadline: Varies by compliance group.

All Pennsylvania lawyers have been permanently assigned to one of three (3) Compliance Groups chosen randomly, by lawyer ID number:

First Group – May 1 through April 30 every year
Second Group – September 1 through August 31 every year
Third Group – January 1 through December 31 every year

Compliance Cycle: Annual

Approval of Programs: The Knowledge Group does not automatically submit CLE application for all our programs in Pennsylvania. Attendees seeking approved credits should send an email to for more information.

Program Format: The Knowledge Group webcasts qualify as distance learning in Pennsylvania. Attorneys may complete up to six (6) credits of distance learning per compliance period. Any credits earned via distance learning in excess of the allotted credit limit, will not carry over into the next compliance period. View our list of LIVE Webcasts and Recorded Webcasts.

PA CLE Reporting Procedure: The Knowledge Group submits attendance report for approved courses to Pennsylvania CLE Board.

Pennsylvania is extending its CLE deadline for Compliance Group 1 and is suspending its distance learning limit, in light of COVID-19.

Update: The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has issued an order to extend their CLE deadline for Compliance Group 1 to August 31, 2020 (other compliance groups remain unchanged) due to COVID-19.

Pennsylvania CLE Requirements For Newly Admitted Attorneys: Newly admitted attorneys in the state of Pennsylvania are required by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to complete the Bridge the Gap program prior to their first CLE compliance deadline.
