CPD-QC (Quebec)

CPD Requirements: The Barreau du Québec requires lawyers to complete at least thirty (30) hours of approved training during the two-year compliance period.

Compliance Deadline: March 31

Reporting Deadline: April 30

Compliance Cycle: Biennial

Approval of Programs: Training activities held outside Québec and recognized by another Bar Association in Canada or elsewhere within a mandatory continuing education system in that other Bar Association are automatically recognized by the Committee:

  • regardless of whether or not the lawyer is a member of that other Bar Association, and
  • regardless of whether or not that training activity is offered by that other Bar Association or by a provider recognized by that other Bar Association.

For these training activities, lawyers just need to declare the hours completed, on their training statement, and keep proof of their participation in these activities. No application or request for recognition needs to be filed with the Committee.

Attendance Reporting Procedure: Attorneys must self-report their attendance in Québec.
