Cryptic “Build WALL through M!” Suggests Military Funding?

President Trump has made no secret of wanting to construct a physical wall on the southern border of the U.S. with Mexico, however, Congress has also made no secret of hesitating at the current price tag of the project as well. So when the President zapped out a tweet with the words, “Building a great Border Wall, with drugs (poison) and enemy combatants pouring into our Country, is all about National Defense. Build WALL through M!” People immediately assumed he was going to redirect military spending already approved in the recent federal budget bill towards his pet construction task.
However, while he made a connection to national defense, “M” military spending can’t be automatically assumed as a done deal. Trump has already taught people with very clear lessons that he can’t be predicted with his own words. So “M” may very well represent a number of programs in the federal government, or it may entirely be a distraction to scare people in general. The President has never been beyond using the press against itself to keep folks running around, distracted from paying attention to what he is really doing behind the scenes. Also, clearly understanding that he can’t trust the typical staff assigned to the White House to not leak everything under the sun, Trump could be simply grandstanding to scare people into providing an alternative funding source instead of losing military spending.
Keep in mind, military spending isn’t just payroll; it represents millions of dollars spent in factories and vendors clustered in key spots around the country. If the funding for a given weapons contract was suddenly diverted or cut off, a number of high-powered lobbyists would be kicked into scramble mode instantly to preserve the contract and get it back into action again. That kind of attention may be exactly the fear Trump wants to generate to get people into a far more cooperative position and fund his border wall. It would ring true to a typical business negotiation move in a high-powered real estate deal.
